Hi Rafael!
Thank you for your help with this!
Here are a few design notes to start…
2. Rim Design
3. Location
1. Primary Elements (flame, torch, & Hand)
These have all improved since the first sketch - thank you.
Special thanks to whoever made progress on the hand; that is definite improvement, well done.
These elements will need further improvement, but they’re heading the right direction.
2. Rim design
We can improve the current iteration of the rim.
For now, let’s pull it and focus on other elements.
This is not to say no rim, rather to say we will return to it later.
3. Location
The current image is a slightly too much off-center. Let’s update that.
4. Relief and Depth
Your gallery displays a number of well-crafted 3d designs.
At some point, we’ll need to incorporate the depth.
I’ll trust the timing on this to your discretion.
5. A quick comparison
First, we do not need to emulate this or any other coin - in fact, I would prefer not to.
That said, we used this coin as a place to start, as it has a lot going for it.
There seem to be manufacturing obstacles to both the triple-plating and background engraving.
That’s understandable, but we still need to find solutions to replace the depth and elegance these added.
What follows is one possible method to achieve this…
6. Textured Background
I noticed a number of the coins in your gallery had a variety of different background textures.
Let’s use something similar to this one
7. Rays from the flame
I also noticed a number of your coins included rays (here’s one example).
Let’s incorporate rays emanating from the flame to…
Emphasize the light.
Add depth and dimension.
Make the image feel more uplifting.
Reduce some of the creepiness of a hand extruding from the abyss.
8. Putting these together
I wanted to find a visual example for you, so I worked to generate the following image.
It’s not bad but not perfect; still, it should serve for illustration purposes. Here goes…
1. Textured background. Slightly dark.
2. Rays emanating from the flame.
Please make the rays raised from the textured background, but not as raised as the flame/torch/hand (similar to this pic).
For this iteration, let’s go with silver rays.
